In February 2007, our World service meeting Delegate, Ian C visited the Solomon’s at the request of the Archbishop, who asked for help with the growing problem of alcoholism in the Islands.
Some AA meetings were organized at this time but failed to reach sufficient momentum to keep going.
Ian revisited the Solomon’s in an attempt to keep the meetings open.
In late October 2012, the GSO once again received a call for help from the Solomon’s. The General Service board decided to send Brian S and Philomena L to the Solomon’s to ascertain what help they needed.
On their first visit Philomena and Brian did a radio interview .The interview went for about 40 minutes with both Philomena and Brian telling a little of their recovery journey and quite a lot about the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. The interviewer then asked questions about the fellowship, which they were both able to answer. They did not use their real names during the interview as per our principle of anonymity at the level of Press, Radio and TV. They similarly gave a newspaper interview.
